Vljuden in nekoliko občudujoč začetek pogovora z naključno mimoidočim, ki ga velika večina, tako v mestu kot na deželi, sprejema zelo dobrovoljno kot simpatičen kompliment. Vsaj sprva le malokdo opazi, da je to eno od prijaznih sporočil, da je nekdo lepo vzgojen in bolj mestne sorte, kar je sicer pohvalno, vendar je videti nekoliko neroden in ne razume drugega kot ljubljanščino, na podeželju pa je bolj ali manj izgubljen. V Darwinovem letu je tak poklon tudi pomenljivo sporočilo.

Največkrat greš v kakšen manj obljuden prostor v podjetju, kjer te šef ne bo opazil oz. našel, ter tam bongaš.
Npr.: Med delovnim časov nekje sediš, čakaš da bo čas minil, mimo pa pride sodelovec in ti reče: "Spet bongaš?"
Izraz se je uveljavil v enem grosupeljskem podjetju, niti ne vem kako in kdaj.
ZELO NAROBE - BONGATI SE POMENI DAJATI SE, PREDRKAVATI SE Z NEKOM. (bongala sta se zaradi nadstreška, že mesec dni se bongam z njim...)

Njegova germansko-slovanska ustreznica je štrudelj (jabolčni/sirov zavitek; ljubko imenovan tudi burek sa šećerom, predvsem po prizoru iz filma Kajmak in marmelada, ko Džuro Tanji reče, da njena mama peče burek sa šećerom).
V pogovornem jeziku pomeni burek tudi bedaka, nesposobneža. Primer: "Ste pa res eni bureki!" Seveda je v tej žaljivi rabi besede bolj ali manj prikrita šovinistična ali rasistična vsebina; burek v tem pomenu implicira zabitega in nesposobnega južnjaka, Balkanca oz. Orientalca. Znani ljubljanski grafit iz 80. let je razglašal: BUREK? NEIN, DANKE! Pomen grafita je bil, kajpada, jasen: nočemo Juge, Balkana in Orienta, temveč Zahod, Nemčijo in Evropo.*
Branko Gradišnik je svoje čase govoril, da je burek beseda, ki združuje Vzhod in Zahod. Če namreč prebereš "burek" nazaj, dobiš besedo "kerub" (//Kerub, jej burek!//). Njegovo interpretacijo bi nemara lahko malce...

Ta glagol nima neke prave sopomenke v knjižnem jeziku. Pomeni počivati, biti nekje in ne delati nič posebnega, sedeti nekje (v nekem prostoru).
